Carol Hanson

Comments: I met Len when he first came to work at NILS as PALS was called at the time. At first, I was simply delighted the library system had found someone with such a high level of technological expertise. I soon realized they had found much more than that – they had discovered a rare jewel- and I had discovered a great colleague and friend as well as someone who loved Chinese food almost as much as I do!

There are so many things I will never forget about Len but this post would be way too long.

I am so grateful for the help and emotional support he gave me recently during a very difficult time. Just a little over a month ago, I made the decision to leave my position as director of the Pankhurst Memorial Library in Amboy after almost 12 years. He took care of so many details for me and made my transition much easier. His understanding and caring words will always stay with me.

I was not able to attend his visitation and service since it took place on my beloved husband‚Äôs 55th birthday and we had had special plans for a long time. Len and I said on more than one occasion that we wished we could find a way to ‚Äúclone ourselves‚Ä? in order to do more, to be in more than one place at a time. I have read all the postings from those who cared about him and realize he had found a way to do this or found a way not to need to. He would have told me his secret next time we spoke.

Len was a truly special man. I was lucky to know him. He was my friend and I loved him. I will miss him sorely.
