Eve Kirk

Comments: I learned of Len's untimely death on Sunday, right before our last Saving Family History event and have not been able to think on much since. I have known Len since his hire for NILS in 2001-2. He was a very intelligent man, an enthusiastic advocate for the smart use of technology, a hard worker, a real public servant, and a fine gentleman. Many of us in the Rockford area enjoyed his expert chauffering to automation merger meetings. On those days in the van, we talked about many other things, his lovely wife, his daughter - the apple of his eye, and his frequent weekend bike hikes. None of us live forever, and it confounds us when the best and brightest are taken seemingly before their time. To PALS staff and especially the Rockford Service Center staff who saw and worked with him frequently, I share in your grief. I don't know Len's religious beliefs, but he truly seemed to be cheerful and delight in life. "Teach me to number my days that I may have a heart of wisdom." If Len did not, in fact, know that verse, he certainly lived it. He will be missed personally and professionally. May he rest in peace.
