Melissa Carle

Comments: The first time I met Len, it was at a meeting before the automation merger, at a Heritage Automated Library (HAL) meeting. Bob McKay introduced me to him as the voice of PALS. I didn't immediately realize what Bob was talking about until Len spoke. I immediately recognized his voice as the one that greeted me everytime I called the PALS switchboard number. While Bob was referencing the switchboard message that Len had recorded in the wonderful, deep baritone of his, it has always felt true in a larger sense, too. Len's open manner, quick mind, and desire to do good so that the rest of us could do our jobs to the best of our ability epitomized him being the voice of PALS.

It will take us a long time to find our voices again. My heart goes to his wife and his daughter.
